Amy has been working with different base metals for a number of years, but her specialism is silver clay. Gaining her Diploma 1 in September 2024, she decided now was the right time to start teaching workshops.
Using teaching experience gained from working as a course facilitator and education sessions in museums, in addition to teaching roles at a university and theatre school, Amy has endless patience and wants you to leave her classes with new skills and feeling proud of what you have made.
At Danebury Designs, all of our workshops are catered to absolute beginners, or people that have a little bit of experience of silver clay.
Should you want a bit more of a challenge then you can contact us for a bespoke session.
We provide all materials and tools for the classes, but you are very welcome to bring your own if you have something you wish to use. Some attendees might bring a button, piece of fabric, or a treasured item to create a unique jewellery piece for them. You could even bring a leaf with an interesting texture from your garden!
Want a silver clay workshop at your house or with you social group? Amy can cater for a range of activities including (but not limited to) hen parties, baby showers, and birthday parties. Prices vary depending on the size of the group, the length of your workshop and what you would like to make. Email info@daneburydesigns.co.uk for more information and a quote.
Our primary material for our workshops and for our jewellery is silver clay. Silver clay is recycled silver. The silver is made into fine particles and mixed with an organic binder. This organic binder makes silver clay easy to work with and you can learn some fantastic techniques to work with it. It is then fired which burns off the binder and you are left with 99% fine silver. Amazing!
It is the perfect way to make fine jewellery without the need for lots of tools and equipment, like what is needed in traditional silversmithing, making it easy to do at home without too much expense.
There are different metals available such as sterling silver, copper, and bronze, but in our workshops we always use fine silver.
